Acute Physical Therapy

Same day appointments are always available for acute injuries. As healing and recovery times are quicker with immediate treatment of such problems, we make our patients a priority.

Goals of Acute Physical Therapy Treatment:
  • Decrease pain.
  • Decrease swelling.
  • Decrease muscle spasm.
  • Educate on proper positioning.
  • Teach home R.I.C.E. techniques (rest, ice, compression, elevation).
  • Brace and support injury site as needed.
  • Determine functional status for modified duty vs. regular duty as needed.
Acute Injuries Typically Treated, But Not Limited To:
  • Extremity sprains and strains
  • Spinal musculature sprains and strains
  • Whiplash injuries
  • Industrial injuries
  • Sports trauma
  • Facet irritation
  • Sacroiliac strain

The best way to prevent an acute injury from becoming a chronic problem is with prompt treatment and educating the patient in prevention measures.
