Pediatric Physical Therapy
At P.T. Northwest we strive to provide a complete range of physical therapy services not only for adults, but also for children. This means programs designed for children from infancy to youth. We have treatment programs for children both with and without developmentally delayed disabilities.
Our focus with developmentally delayed children is to promote the greatest amount of functional independence. We work closely with parents and, as needed, school districts or other related organizations to help promote and carry over the child's programs. We create exercise programs that help with range of motion, flexibility, strength, balance and coordination with an emphasis on neuromuscular re-education.
We also have programs for children who simply have an injury of an acute or chronic nature. We communicate closely with coaches, physicians and family members to develop a plan for a safe but rapid return to pre-injury activities. As needed, we utilize modalities to decrease pain and promote healing, and as the child progresses will create a program which emphasizes strengthening, stretching and proper body mechanics.
Treatment programs are offered for the following conditions:
- Cerebral Palsy
- Spina Bifida
- Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Orthopedic Disorders
- Pulmonary Disorders
- Myopathy and other related Disorders
- Adolescent Sports Injuries
- Adaptive Equipment Training for Developmentally Challenged Children
