Special care is necessary to ensure appropriate healing, protect the surgical site from unwanted stresses and restore function. We work closely with the surgeon on specific post-operative protocols to ensure optimal outcome.

Goals of Physical Therapy Treatment:

• Decrease swelling.
• Restore range of motion.
• Promote scar mobility.
• Decrease muscle guarding.
• Decrease pain.
• Increase strength.
• Educate on proper positioning.
• Teach home care and exercise techniques.
• Determine functional status for modified duty vs. regular duty.
• Facilitate transition for return to sport or work.

We are able to treat a wide variety of post-operative care patients, from those who have with relatively minor procedures to those patients that have undergone extensive reconstruction for the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle or spine related conditions.

As patients progress with their recovery we have programs for returning them to a sport, work activity, or daily life. Communication with coaches and employers is continual, and helps ensure a safe return to previous activity level.

For work related injuries we offer physical capacity evaluations and work hardening services. These services determine functional ability and prepare a recovering individual for return to the work force.
